As mentioned in other use cases, one of the most important things to keep in mind when introducing new technologies is doing everything is on our hands to adapt our approach and communication to their jargon, and provide practical and efficient experiences to demonstrate the value and benefits of the technology in their work. In this case, we were in charge of the onboarding of end-users of the London Fire Brigade.
Define the library of icons that would be used on their software system.
The main challenge was translating an analog way of working towards a digital interface. By providing real-world examples and scenarios that aligned with their daily experiences, we were able to bridge the gap between the new technology and their existing knowledge and skills.
We designed workshops and hands-on sessions where firefighters had the opportunity to interact with the new technology in a practical setting. A series of dynamics reports were shared between all stakeholders (Both internal and external) so decisions and agreements will be made.
We ran the same dynamic several times at the end of each training so we could easily select the most popular icons that would come up over and over. also, surfaced very interesting color choices to define the status of some appliances.

Final offline design of the icon library agreed upon for their systems, created to be handed on the Fire Stations.
